Taahsildar gari Ammayi story at a glance

After the success of Manushulu Maarali, Sobhan Babu got a recognition in the Box Office with this film. Though he had great following among the audience, this film made the producers rely on Sobhan Babu as an actor with star appeal. It is based on Kaavilipaati Vijayalakshmi’s novel  Vidhi Vinyaasalu which used to be published as a serial in Andhra Prabha weekly. Sobhan Babu who acted in dual role before in Potti Pleader acted again as father-son dual role respectively.  His performance was well received by the audience and critics alike.

Story Details:
There is a Tahseeldar (Nagabhusham) in a village who has an elder son (Raavi Kondala Rao) , younger son (Sakshi Ranga Rao) and a daughter( Jamuna).  The daughter loves a handsome guy (Sobhan Babu) who has no property or huge bank balance. Obviously the Tahseeldar family opposes the match. But they get married and the guy becomes a bus conductor in order to earn money. He feels that any job is alright which makes the person have a respectful living. He even plans to make his son a Tahseeldar who is better than his father-in-law.  Once his elder brother in law light heartedly says how can a son of bus conductor become a Tahseeldar.  He gets very hurt with the brother in law comments and plans to take his wife away from the town to live in peace. His wife, who is already pregnant by then stays in side and gets unconscious at one moment. Right at the precise moment, our hero thinks she is not answering him and leaves the town thinking that all rich people are one and the same. He returns to the town transforming to a rich person and hopesnhis wife should come back to him by herself.  His son (Sobhan Babu-Younger) is loved by his cousin (Chandrakala), daughter of younger brother in law.  After some dramatic situations and clearing of misunderstandings, both the families unite and the film ends with younger Sobhan Babu marrying his cousin.

Performances:
Sobhan Babu is excellent in two contrasting roles- the self respect oriented older Sobhan Babu and the young Sobhan Babu. He literally carries the film on his shoulders and makes it a treat to watch. Jamuna is decent as the female lead with a good role to play. Chandrakala is nice as the female lead for younger Sobhan Babu. Nagabhushanam is brilliant in the role of arrogant Tahseeldar. Raavi Kondala Rao and Sakshi Ranga Rao are good in the brother in law roles for the older Sobhan Babu.

Technical Aspects:
Dialogues by N.R. Nandi work wonders for the audience. It is not an easy task to write dialogues for a novel based film.  Athreya penned some phenomenal songs for the film. K.V.Mahadevan’s music is a highlight for the film with songs ‘Neekunnadhi Nenani.. Naakunnadhi Neevani’, ‘Paadamannavu Paaduthunnanu’,’Jaajiri Jaajiri Bava’, ‘Kanapadani Cheyyedho Aaduthundhi Naatakam’ became good hits.
