Till the end of 1990s, Telugu Cinema witnessed many films with top heroes like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh and Balakrishna ruling the industry with their commercial entertainers. There was little room for the younger lot in which people like Vadde Naveen , J.D.Chakravarthy were making a decent impact on films. But the year 2000 marked a dawn of fresh youthful films and one such film which created a sensation was Chitram.

Chitram was a remarkable film in many respects. It redefined the term budgeting in Telugu Cinema where even small films can make a great impact. The film introduced the memorable combination of director Teja with music director R.P.Patnaik who gave us some brilliant songs. Most importantly, Chitram got us the fresh talent Uday Kiran who became a heartthrob for young Telugu girls of that age!

Uday Kiran was instantly shot to fame with this film where is played the role of a youngster who gets into premature relationship. The audience admired the way he carried the youthful role with ease and perfection. His sparkling smile and dancing skills were immediately noticed in Chitram itself. Right from then, this young actor became a youth star which led him to do another fresh love story Nuvvu Nenu in the coming year 2001. This film became a blockbuster and Uday Kiran was flocked with opportunities. In fact, directors were penning stories according to his image- which was a great achievement.

One of the most amazing aspect of Uday Kiran’s films were his ability to choose different subjects which were based on the love story angle. Each film of his was versatile compared to other and he gave special importance to the songs and his persona. Movies like Manasantha Nuvve, Kalusukovalani, Sreeram, Neeku Nenu Naaku Nuvvu and Nee Sneham are striking examples of this aspect.

But as fate could have it, Uday Kiran has had some setbacks in career. After his broken engagement with Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita, coincidentally roles started faltering.  But the unnerved actor did not give up so easily. Uday consistently did films even since then and did an interesting project Abaddham directed by veteran filmmaker K.Balachander. Somehow, his presence in Telugu Cinema was going through downfall which led him eventually lose hope.

It came up like a big shock to entire Telugu film fraternity  and the audience to hear the news of Uday’s suicide in 2014. Nobody imagined that this optimistic, relaxed actor with bundle of talents to give up with such helplessness. Telugu Cinema has lost a wonderfully talented actor who was responsible for a breakthrough in how films were made.

Today is the birth anniversary of this charming actor and iQlikmovies remembers the stalwart of young love stories in Tollywood.
