An Epic Love story & a heart-warming Experience!

Plot:

The unprecedented and undefeated Maratha Warrior & Conqueror Peshwa Bajirao Ballad comes to the rescue of the Kingdom of Bundelkhand in a war impressed by the plea of Mastani, the warrior princess of Bundelkhand. Mastani falls in love with married king Bajirao and in pursuit of that love comes to Bajirao's abode Puna. Kashi, Bajirao's wife and first love, Bajirao's widowed mother (Tanvi Azmi), younger brother (Vaibhav Tatwawdi) and the entire Brahmin community who don't approve a relationship with a Muslim queen (Mastani) insult her and even try to get rid of her. While the entire Peshwa kingdom and Brahmin community conspires against, Bajirao loves Mastani and eventually tries to make her his wife. What happened to this forbidden love triangle of Bajirao-Mastani-Kashi in the compound of Religion, Dharam and hatred forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Ranveer Singh: This powerhouse actor proved that he is an able actor as well. Having made that essential cut with his mellowed yet intense act, Ranveer Singh is an absolute delight to watch as Bajirao.

Deepika Padukone: She has once again proved why is she regarded as Bollywood "Savitri". If you are bowled over Deepika's performance in Tamasha, your love and respect for Deepika will only increase with Bajirao Mastani - Yet another feather in her cap!

Priyanka Chopra: You will not get carried away by the magic of BajiRao & Mastani only because of the impeccable act of Priyanka (as Bajirao's doting wife Kashibai).

Tanvi Azmi & others contributed their best for this epic love drama.

Analysis:

Having set upon a historical backdrop, Sanjay Leela Bhansali beautifully paints the epic love story of Bajirao & Mastani on the celluloid.

No wonder one falls for the opulent colourful frames of Bhansali and sheer grandeur but BM is a film that enthrall you with its beautiful soul that anyone who can look within will fall in love.

Engrossing performances, heartening narration and flawless execution are the biggest assets of the film ably aided by the other crafts. BM transports you back into the past and tells you the mesmerizing love story of BajiRao & Mastani in the most poetic way that can leave you tranquilized. The story is not only all about love but indeed the shades and layers of life, society, the war b/w unconditional love vs conventional society and the complex relation of colour & faith, love & religion.

Yes..the pace of narration might make you check your mobiles once in a while but BM has a splendid story, spellbinding performances and a top notch work of meritorious art that can woo movie lovers.

Emphasizing the fact that it is not a historical film with a commercial treatment but indeed a tale of unconditional love that you wouldn't mind told once again.

"Every Religion preaches love but true love is indeed a Religion"

Music:

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's music goes along with the mood of the film catering well to the needs of the film and so does the background score neither too loud nor underplayed (certainly not dramatic).

Others:

Nonetheless to say production values in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali are grand but are at their best in Bajirao Mastani and the visual effects are decent enough.

Verdict:

Bajirao Mastani is a must watch epic love story and a mesmerizing experience. Not for those looking for a commercial historical high voltage war drama or a good time pass entertainer!
