Rajamouli’s biggest magnum opus Baahubali was also the most talked about project not only in South India but also in national arena. Apart from showering of accolades and awards, the film was also a target of criticism and objections for characterizations and content. When Baahubali was awarded the national award for the best film this year, it attracted more criticism especially from people belonging to parallel cinema.

One such famous personality is Girish Kasaravalli, who said selecting Baahubali for a prestigious award like that is an insensitive move from the jury. He asserted that hte film had a demeaning portrayal of tribal communities as they are no longer treated as uncivilized in the country. Girish also added that he is not against selecting a popular film but by giving award to Baahubali, the jury ignored many more deserving regional films that discussed societal issues.

On the other hand, Rajamouli & Co. are busy sculpting the second installment Baahubali: The Conclusion.
