Finally, the drought that Tollywood has been going through in the year 2018 is seeing some fresh rainfall. This is in the form of the first biggie of this year ‘Rangasthalam’ featuring mega power star Ram Charan. The film came in with a fair share of expectations and it is actually surpassing them. An interesting discussion has now come up.
The film has Prime Star Jagapathi Babu as Phanindra Bhupathi and the powerhouse performer Prakashraj as Dakshinamurthy. Both wear Jandhyam (the sacred thread) and this has triggered few speculations. Some are saying Phanindra must be a Raju while Dakshinamurthy could be from the Brahmin community.
Showing villains with Jandhyam is something new and hence this has become a discussion point. The moment you see Jandhyam you conclude it should be a Brahmin but their work, lifestyle, the environment at home in the film shows otherwise. In Godavari areas, Bhupathi belongs to Raju community while Dakshinamurthy is for Niyogi Brahmins. As such, Niyogi Brahmins are prominent in politics so we must infer that’s what the maker was implying.
