Natural Star Nani did not have the best of the years in 2018. The stunning reverses with Krishnarjuna Yudham and Devadas made him realise how risky it is to tread a routine track. Now he is keen to do different genre films and show his acting prowess.
Currently, Nani is starring as a cricketer in his upcoming entertainer Jersey under the direction of Gautam Tinnanuri of Malli Raava fame. The first look released generated tremendous buzz on the project. Nani is romancing Shraddha Srinath in the film. Nani will be seen as a cricketer and the film showcases his journey as a youngster, middle-aged player and an old person. Though the makers did not reveal that the film is a biopic or inspired by any cricketer, Gautam tinnanuri's tweet that the film highlights the journey of a cricketer in the 90s, generated speculation. Gautam posted '‘At 36 there is nothing left for him to prove in cricket. The dreams and heartburns have been left behind.. 1996-97 Ranji trophy season was just a display of his love for batting.’
Former Indian cricketer Raman Lamba created records in Ranji Trophy in 96-97 to enter into the Indian team and went on to play 4 Tests and 32 One-Day Internationals. His life ended when he was hit on the temporal bone by a cricket ball while fielding in Bangladesh’s league cricket and went into a coma after three days and lost his life later.
