Bollywood star hero contracts COVID-19

Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar, who was supposed to walk on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival, will not be attending the event because he has tested positive for COVID-19. Akshay officially announced the news through his social media handles.

 

"Was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the India Pavilion at #Cannes2022, but have sadly tested positive for Covid. Will rest it out. Loads of best wishes to you and your entire team, @ianuragthakur. Will really miss being there," tweeted Akshay.

 

He was supposed to walk on the red carpet of the festival on an opening day, as a part of the Indian contingent, which is led by Union Minister Anurag Thakur. Music director AR Rahman, Director Shekhar Kapur and actress Pooja Hegde are the others who will walk on the red carpet.

 

The festival kickstart on May 17 and continues till May 25. India has been announced as the official 'country of honour' at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Six feature films, representing our country, will be screened at the festival.

 

These films are a part of Marche' Du Films, also called Cannes Film Market. They are not a part of the official competition.
