Senior actor Chalapathi Rao passes away

2022 is turning out to be a dark year for the Telugu film industry. We have lost senior actors Krishnam Raju and Krishna a few months ago. Just a couple of days back, Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away. Now, yet another veteran actor, Chalapathi Rao breathed his last.

 

Rao died of a sudden cardiac arrest this morning. He was 78. He was born on May 8th, 1944 in the Baliparru village of Krishna district. He made his acting debut with the 1966 film Goodachari 116. In a career spanning over 50 years, Rao acted in various kinds of roles in many super-hit films.

 

Rao worked in more than 1200 films. His last movie was O Manishi Neevevaru. Rao survived with his three children, Ravi Babu, Sridevi and Malinidevi. His mortal remains are now kept in Ravi Babu's residence. Various industry celebrities are paying their last respects to the actor. His final rites will be held at Maha Prasthanam this afternoon.
