Sundeep Kishan has come up with an interesting sports drama around Hockey. It is the first time in recent times that a Hockey based film took a shape in Telugu. Lavanya Tripathi played the leading lady in the film. Dennis Jeevan is the director.
Sports minister Ramesh (Rao Ramesh) wants to encroach a hockey court for his business purpose. Sanju (Sundeep Kishan) falls in love with Lav (Lavanya Tripathi) and in a dramatic series of events, Sanju has to step in to save the Hockey ground from the political leaders. Who is Sanju? Why did he take up the mission? Did he save the ground? What happens in the end? forms the film's story.
Sundeep Kishan's outstanding performance added more strength to the movie. Especially his screen presence never fails to impress the audience even in emotional scenes. Lavanya Tripathi did her best in giving a competition to Sundeep Kishan. Especially, her performance in the sports scenes worked out really well for the film.
She looked absolutely stunning in the film and also impressed with her performance. Murali Sharma also delivered a refreshing performance in the movie. Posani Krishna Murali's performance is too good. Rao Ramesh acted naturally in the movie. Priyadarshi Pulikonda, Raghu Babu and Satya also delivered decent performances in the film.
Director Dennis Jeevan Kanukolanu has prepared an interesting plotline for the movie. Despite having a sports backdrop, the director succeeds in focusing more on the story and gave equal importance to the story as well. He induced the story with all the commercial elements and blended them well. His pace of narration is somewhat slow but will engage the audience.
Production values by People Media Factory in association with Abhishek Agarwal Arts and Venkatadri Talkies are the major highlight of the film. Music by Hiphop Tamizha added more strength to this movie. Not only the songs but also his BGM will also grab the attention of the audience. Cinematographer Kavin Raj has produced some beautiful visuals for this movie. Editing by Chota K. Prasad is clean and neat.
Though it is a remake, the makers have made some changes to the film to suit the nativity of Telugu audiences. The major advantage of A1 express is the performances of all the lead cast. Be it Sundeep Kishan or Rao Ramesh or Lavanya Tripathi, everyone has given their best and came up with impressive performances. That is the reason why the film looks engaging even though it has an old storyline. However, there are a few scenes that may bore the audience. But the makers have completely succeeded in making the climax portions engaging. It looked like the film suffers a bit by meddling between sports and romantic scenes. Barring a few hiccups, A1 Express is a decent watch for this weekend.
Few boring scenes
Final Verdict: A1 Express is good with some shortcomings!
