Hero Suriya came up with a theatrical release after a gap of more than two years. His latest flick ET has hit the screens in both Tamil and Telugu today. Directed by Pandiraj, it features Priyanka Arul Mohan of Gang Leader fame as the female lead. Here is the review of it.

Story:
Krishna (Suriya) is a lawyer who hails from a rural region. His village has issues with his neighbouring village. Krishna falls in love with Adira (Priyanka), who happens to hail from the neighbouring village. When everything is going normal, Krishna comes across a person named Kamesh (Vinay Rai), who happens to run a porn-video mafia. How Krishna tackled Kamesh forms the main crux of the movie.

Performances:
Suriya is the major asset of the film. He carries it right from the beginning to the end. There is not even a single dull moment whenever he is on the screen. He played the role of a rural family man and an efficient lawyer with ease.

On the other side, heroine Priyanka looks pale in the first half but she did decently in the second half. Vinay Rai was good in the role of a menacing antagonist. Others like Satyaraj, Saranya and Devadarshini were okay.

Technical Departments:
Director Pandiraj tried making a masala commercial pot-boiler with a strong social message. Though the story's intention was good, he failed to bring that feel to the big screen.

Music by D. Imman is okayish. The songs were forgettable but the background score was decent. The cinematography by Ratnavelu was very routine. The editing by Ruben did justice to the script. The production values were good though.

Analysis:
ET had to be a social drama with a strong message. Though the point was good, director Pandiraj failed to write the screenplay well. The entire first half is like a serial that has nothing to do with the main story of the movie. Until the interval point, we don't get to the core plot.

Things turn a bit interesting in the second half. But a generic approach tests the patience of the viewers throughout the film. Thus, ET becomes a tedious watch for any kind of audience. On the whole, it is another disappointing venture from Suriya.

Plus Points:
Core plot point
Suriya's performance

Minus Points:
Regular approach in the screenplay
Tedious first half
Lengthy climax

One-Line Verdict: Leave ET!
