Dhanush teamed up with his brother Sri Raghava after a long time for the film Nene Vasthunna. Dhanush played a dual role in it. Starring Indhuja and Elli Avram as the female leads, this movie has hit the screens today. Here is the review of it.

Story:
Kathir and Prabhu (both played by Dhanush) are twins but get separated in childhood due to some circumstances. Later, Prabhu settles in Chennai. He lives with his wife and daughter. They are a happy family. All of a sudden, his daughter Satya behaves abnormally when they come back from a holiday trip. Since then, their lives take a turn around. What happened to Satya? Why is she behaving like that? What happened to Kathir on the other side? These factors form the rest of the story.

Performances:
Dhanush is the backbone of this film. This is his showreel. We all know how talented he is and he once again proved his prowess in acting. Especially, he is menacing as Kathir. The way he showed versatility in both roles is astonishing.

Indhuja and Elli Avram were decent in their respective characters. The kids who played Dhanush's children should get a special mention. All of them performed very well. Yogi Babu and Prabhu were okay in their limited roles.

Technical Departments:
Sri Raghava penned the story of this movie. He sets it very well in the first 10 minutes. The entire first half is interesting and thrilling. But his writing faltered in the second half. It doesn't provide any chills and thrills like the first half. Thus, the movie ends up as an average fare.

Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is phenomenal. He excelled with his background score. That is the main asset of the film. Om Prakash's cinematography is good. He maintained the mood of the film very well with the lighting. Bhuvan Srinivasan's editing is apt. The production values are not that great and it looked like the film was made on a shoestring budget.

Review:
Selvaraghavan is known for his writing of hero characterizations. He gives typical traits to his lead heroes. They all have psychological issues. Here also he uses the same formula. His characters are interesting but the story is half-baked.

The first half goes on a horror tone. It will definitely keep audiences hooked to their seats. The interval bang is very good as well. After the first half, one would expect more from the second half. But things go absolutely flat in the latter half. Everything becomes predictable and the horror elements vanish away all of a sudden. If the second half was made well, Nene Vasthunna would have been a good thriller. But it now just ends up as an average venture.

Positives:
Dhanush
First Half
Background Score

Negatives:
Second Half
Slow narration

One Line Verdict: Not up to the mark!
