Thalapathy Vijay's latest film Vaarasudu had a grand release today in Telugu. It was directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju. Rashmika Mandanna played the female lead. Check out the review here.

Story:
Rajendra (Sarathkumar) is a business tycoon who plans to hand over his professional responsibilities to one of his sons (Srikanth and Shaam). He also happens to have a third son Vijay (Vijay) but he doesn't get along with his youngest son. Thus, Vijay stays away from his family. When Rajendra is about to hand over his business, his family breaks apart. That's when Vijay enters the scene. How he solves all issues and reunites his family becomes the main plot of the film.

Performances:
Vijay looks stylish and suave in his role. He also pulled off the character effortlessly. His comedy scenes and dance steps will entertain his fans for sure.

Rashmika played a typical commercial heroine role. She is confined to songs and romantic scenes. Sarathkumar, Jayasudha and Prakash Raj were routine in their roles. Srikanth got a good role and he was apt. Shaam looked great in a negatively shaded character.

Technical Departments:
Storywise, there is nothing new in Varisu. We have been watching these kinds of films since the inception of cinema. Throughout the film, we feel like we have watched it before. However, director Vamshi Paidipally doesn't make us feel bored and keeps us invested in this cliched story.

Thaman's songs are great and so is the background score. Karthik Palani's cinematography is excellent. The production values are great. The production design should also get a special mention. The editing is apt.

Review:
The major drawback of Vaarasudu is its age-old story. Right from the beginning, we feel that we are watching a plethora of old films. Even the slow-paced narration turns out to be a drawback for the movie. The entire first half only establishes the characters and their world. The second half also follows the typical family drama template but comparatively, it is better. The climax portions may appeal to a section of family audiences. On the whole, Vaarasudu is a decent but boring outing from Vijay, Vamshi and Raju.

Plus Points:
Vijay
Music
Production Values

Minus Points:
Age old story
Slow-paced narration
No depth in the storytelling

One-Line Verdict: Routine Vaarasudu
