Two states starring Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor received a remarkable number of audiences for their first show. The number was so high that it received the third biggest opening after the movies like “Jai Ho” and “Gunday”. The percentage of occupants was nearly 70 in Mumbai and Delhi but overall it is somewhat around 95 percent. It was one of the most awaited Bollywood movies which were based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel Two States. People seemed to easily utilize their Good Friday holiday by descending to the cinema halls more during the morning hours; however the number for the evening show was a bit affected for the IPL matches.
Opening Day Collection
Considering the hits for the trailer and the music the movie is going to show the similar results for the rest of the days also. UTV Motion Pictures released the movie worldwide which is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It hit almost 2400 screens worldwide despite of many tough competitions among Hollywood movies like Amazing Spiderman 2.
The collection number can easily touch a sum of 8 crore and soon rise up to some double digit figure. The first day box office collection is around 10.9 crore which has surprised almost everyone. It’s a good movie to enjoy with friends and family with all the elements of a Bollywood movie. Both Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor are looking very cute and justifying their characters. While Alia Bhatt remains the charming and bubbly girl next door, Arjun Kapoor looks ravishing in his new look.
Star Cast and Story
Arjun Kapoor is playing the role of Krish Malhotra while Alia Bhatt will be Ananya Swaminathan both of them studying in IIM Ahmadabad. There is also Ronit Roy, Amrita Singh, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Revathy playing the role of their parents. It’s a simple love story of this Indian young couple belonging to the two different states of India who decides to marry. Krish is a Punjabi boy and a graduate from IIT while Ananya belongs to the South of India. The romance side is a bit different than the regular but the family interactions and the clashes is a bit touching. The movie depicts the problems faced by them due to their different social background and the clashes they have to face in order to keep their relationship intact. It clearly depicts how the Indian society reacts to the very idea of love marriage till today and how far can the power of love take anyone to bridge this gap between the different cultures.
Music
The music is done by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and the lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya who has been successful in creating some of the finest tracks which added to the excitement of the movie.
Rating and Review
Though there is not much excitement left for the viewers who had already read the book but still people said it’s always a different experience to go and watch a film. Some reviewed that the movie is long and moves at a comparatively slower pace. The acting was commendable; Alia Bhatt was very natural and has been very convincing throughout the movie. There was a bit of comic element in the role of the mothers which might be hilarious but portrays the blatant truth of the culture clash in India.
Sometimes high expectations have led to many disappointments in terms of Bollywood movies but Two States have proved the notion wrong. Overall the movie delivers a very nice message for the present generation and is a must watch for all of us.
