The Prequel
Only a week after the Telugu horror film “Ice Cream” was released in cinemas, it was panned by audiences and critics alike. The director of the thriller, i.e. Ram Gopal Varma has now confirmed that soon a sequel will be in the offing and that he will be planning to start working on it as soon as possible. The original flick, “Ice Cream” has a star cast consisting of Tejaswi Madivada and Navdeep. The movie was released on July 12 in cinemas. Just a few days back Ram Gopal Varma has confirmed that he is ready with the script of the sequel and that he was soon going to start working on it. The critics did not gel well with the idea of the first film although the audiences gave an overwhelming response to the script and story, and it was this very feedback that prompted the director to do a sequel to it. This film had a total budget of about 1.5 crore and it collected a whopping number of 80 lakhs on its opening weekend itself in the south alone. Latest Telugu news claim that the producer, T. Rama Satyanarayana and the crew are yet to collect their satellite rights which will up the profits by a tad more.
The sequel
Needless to say, seeing the craze for the first script and the great profits earned, Ram Gopal Varma was egged on to his next project that is going to be a sequel to his latest thriller which was ‘Ice Cream’. The sequel is going to be named ‘Ice Cream 2’. It is said by some sources close to the director that he persuaded the entire crew of the film to work without compensation and in return gave his word that whatever profits the film makes would be shared equally amongst all of them. Though not much has been disclosed about the upcoming sequel, there is some speculation as to whether the same star cast will be continued in this new story or a fresh cast will be finalised.

Now the question that arises is whether he will make the team work again without remuneration or whether he will be willing to pay this time around?! The star cast also remains a question that is unanswered; add to it the question of the story. Will the new script be more thrilling and exciting as before? It has been known in the past that directors have failed to cash in on sequels after a promising first project, will RGV join their ranks? Only time will tell.
