There was a time when the demand for songs was too high and so the audio rights were being sold at a bomb price. For an average movie a minimum of 5 lakhs was offered and a medium range would fetch 25 lakhs. As for the big movies, they were being sold at 1 crore.
But the situation has changed drastically. Nowadays nothing great is being given. While the small budget movies hardly get peanuts and sometimes a revenue sharing offer, the medium budget flicks get anywhere around 10 lakhs. As for the big movies, it is not going beyond 25 lakhs.
There is one company which has monopoly in this field and that is Aditya Audio. Not many are competing and they are not offering more than the price mentioned above. All in all, the audio rights prices have come down in a rather depressing way and it is crashing further.
