Even though government permitted to reopen theatres, producers are not ready to take risk and release movies. Nobody would like to release their film with just 50% occupancy. But, the first film that is ready for theatrical release, after a long 9 month shutdown, is Sai Dharam Tej's Solo Brathuke So Better. But, there is a catch here. The film is simultaneously having an OTT release on the same day.
Zee 5, which acquired the worldwide rights of Solo Brathuke So Better, is releasing the film in theatres and on their OTT platform as well. Since OTTs are not very popular among rural areas, a plan for simultaneous theatrical release would help the film to some extent. Those who have a chance to watch it on OTT can prefer watching at home and those who would like to experience theatres after a long time can walk into nearest cinemas.
Profits made out of theatrical release is an additional benefit for Zee 5 and the same may be further implemented by other streaming services. Solo Brathuke So Better is going to set a new trend for all the upcoming films in Tollywood.
