Chaavu Kaburu Challaga is the new Telugu film in theatres. Karthikeya Gummanakonda and Lavanya Tripathi play the lead roles in the film. New director Koushik Pegallapati is making his debut with the movie.

Story:
Basthi Balaraju (Karthikeya) is a mortuary van driver who falls in love with Mallika (Lavanya Tripathi) at the funeral of her husband. The worlds of Balaraju and Mallika are different from one another. Still, Balaraju tries to convince Mallika to accept his love. Did she accept his love? What did Balaraju do to win her love? Forms the story.

Performances:
Karthikeya has sported a different kind of look in this movie when compared to his previous films and we can say that he has improved a lot in almost every aspect. Be it his dialogue delivery or expressions, the actor has worked hard and went under the skin of the character.

Lavanya Tripathi breathes life into her character. She sure looked absolutely good in the movie and also delivered an honest performance. Her chemistry with Kartikeya will also grab the attention of the audience. Their scenes bring laughs into the theatres.

Aamani got an interesting role in this film and she has delivered an outstanding performance. Murali Sharma also got a meaty role in this film and has given his 100% in his role. Srikanth Iyyengar is good in her role. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:
Pegallapati Koushik has prepared an interesting story for the film. The director has made the characters realistic which made it easier for the audience to relate to the movie even more. Also, his pace of narration is good and will keep the audience engaged.

Production values byBunny Vasu under GA2 Pictures are lavish. The producers have invested decent amounts and provided the best quality. Music by Jakes Bejoy is not so great. But his BGM also added more strength to the film.

Cinematographer Kam Chawla has produced some colorful and bright visuals for the film. Editing by G Satya is decent.

Plus Points:
Performances
Camera Work
Dialogues

Minus Points:
Weak plot
Boring Screenplay

Review:
Newcomer Koushik Pegellapati's plot point is very good and can be made very well. However, his narration was like any other commercial Telugu film and this is where Chaavu Kaburu Challaga didn't get justified. This kind of narration will not suit this kind of story. The director should have avoided taking the commercial formula route and made it in a more novel way. Only the first half is quite good and the second half completely fails to engage us, barring a couple of scenes.

The emotional scenes could've been written in a better way. The performances of the lead actors were good. Especially, Karthikeya gave his best. The mother sentiment worked only in parts. The dialogues are good. The comedy scenes are routine and may not work with all sections of the audience. To sum it up, Chaavu Kaburu Challaga is a routine Telugu commercial film with a novel idea and is a time-pass flick.

Final verdict: A novel idea that takes a routine route!
