After Soorarai Pottru, another film of Suriya, titled Jai Bhim is on Amazon Prime Video. The film was released today and it is based on real-life incidents. Check out the film's review here.

Story:
After witnessing a robbery in his house, a wealthy man frames a tribal couple Rajanna (Manikandan) and Chinnatalli (Lijomal Jose) as thieves. In a dramatic series of events, Rajanna escapes from jail and Chinnatalli approaches Advocate Chandru (Suriya) to help them out of the case. Who did the robbery? Why did Rajanna escape from jail? What did Chandru do for his clients? forms the film's story.

Performances:
Suriya is one of the few actors down South who goes after characters that have a scope to tell something for society. With film by film, Suriya is evolving as a big actor and has been working on building a class image for himself. In this film, he displayed an amazing performance as a lawyer. His character is dynamic and has got a lot of elements that he needs to get right.

Suriya did everything so well. This is one of his best performances and a reminder that the actor is evolving. Lijomal Jose is impressive in her character. The fight she put up as a pregnant woman is commendable. She performed extremely well and the raw performance from Manikandan is top-notch. Rao Ramesh is flawless in his role. He played a government lawyer in the film. Prakash Raj is good too. The rest of the cast impressed everyone big time.

Technical Aspects:
The film's production values are grand. Whatever the film demands, the producers made sure to keep it ready. The courtroom drama looks realistic and appealing. The production work is excellent.

The camera work needs a special mention as it showcased the rural tribal environment so well. Sean Roldan's music elevated some emotional moments of the courtroom drama. The Telugu dubbing is not bad!

Verdict:
Jai Bhim is a film that was released at the right time. At a time, when there are a lot of protests happening for the rights of the underprivileged, this film comes as a boosting factor. The film has got similarities with a few other films like Visaranai but the film has its moments. The downsides of the film are the serious mode which irks at a few moments. The underlying comic angle could have gotten a little elevation too. The first half features some scenes that add no value to the film.

Director Gnanvel came up with a powerful point for the film and has penned scenes inspired by the real person Chandru on which the film was made. The gripping narration is a huge plus point for the film. The film is based on an actual incident that took place in 1995. Suriya carried the film on his shoulders and there is a lot to appreciate in the movie. The director took some time in taking the audiences into his world but the gripping courtroom drama stands out as the best. On the whole, the film is a must-watch realistic drama!

Plus Points:
Suriya's performance
Gripping Court-Room Drama
Dialogues
Story

Minus Points:
Few lags in the first half
Heavy Drama

Final Verdict: A realistic and gripping courtroom drama!
