Yesteryear actress Krishna Kumari is an embodiment of beauty. Her fans often compare her with the beauty of sculptures and the picture perfect facial features. She is the sister of popular actress Shaavukaru Janaki. Krishna Kumari was born in West Bengal when her father was working there. She had her early education in Bengal, Assam and Rajahmundry. After passing her matriculation, Krishna Kumari reached Madras with her mother’s support. It is interesting to know that a film chance knocked her doorstep directly when other actresses were struggling to get one! She was selected for a role involving innocence and beauty in the film ‘Navvithe Navaratnalu’.

After debuting in the year 1951, it was Sr.NTR who gave Krishna Kumari the much needed break as an actress. Sr.NTR’s home banner ‘National Arts Theater’’s film Picchi Pullayya (1953) had Krishna Kumari in the female lead’s role. Her performance was well received by the audience. After that, she appeared in Palle Paduchu, Bangaru Papa, Ilavelpu, Jaya Vijaya, Abhimanam, Devanthakudu. She acted opposite ANR in Bharya Bhartalu, Kula Gotralu, Vagdhanam, Chaduvukunna Ammailu, Punarjanma, Antasthulu, Zamindar and Dr.Chakravarthy making her a star. With Sr.NTR, she acted in Bandipotu, Lakshadhikari, Ummadi Kutumbam, Varakatnam, Tikka Shankarayya, Punyavathi and Bhuvana Sundari Kadha. Her name immediately reminds the audience of her versatile performance in Bharya Bhartalu. A song ‘Emani Paadedhanu Ee Vela’ with Veena in the film became highly popular. Her performance in the song ‘Naa Kanti Papa Lo Nilichipora’ is unforgettable. She acted in many folklore films opposite Kantha Rao. She even acted opposite Haranath and Chalam. After marrying a Rajasthani named Ajay Mohan in the year 1969, Krishna Kumari returned to films with Bharya Biddalu after a brief hiatus in the year 1972. She did the role of a middle aged housewife in the film. After acting in few character oriented roles, Krishna Kumari settled in Bangalore with a happy family life. She lives a peaceful life in the midst of 5 acre green estate. She was bestowed many accolades and awards for her performances in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada Films.
