Biopic the new mantra in Tollywood

Journey into the unknown: –

Masala movies or the so called commercial flicks are of course easier in reaching the target market at all times. This quick success is of course very lucrative for film makers and they try to stick to this formula as much as possible. But then there are the Meeks and the brave hearts. All those film makers who dare to think different are trying to walk the unknown path and make experimental films in the Telegu film industry. The latest genre to be included in this list is supposed to be the biopics. Bollywood has already tried and tested this formula through its critically acclaimed films like “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” and Pan Singh Tomar”.

Telegu film industry is trudging into this unknown land of biopic with a 3D historical film called “Rudramadevi”. She is a well known historical character and belongs to the Kakatiya dynasty. The role would be glamorous and real life at the same time as Rudramadevi was both a queen and a warrior. The role is supposed to be portrait by the very talented and gracious “Anushka Shetty”, who would be the most able to portray the trials and tribulations of the warrior queen. She candidly stated that her role in the film was of course difficult to understand but her extra efforts in reading historical books about her has helped her gain a formidable insight into the life and the complications of the queen. The film would be directed by the renowned Gunasekhar, who states that his interest in the subject was increased by the grandeur of the queens life and increased due to the fact that the technology specifically the 3D would be able to add a new dimension to the subject. He adds to the fact that quite like the cinema scope that added the new dimension to the well known biopic “Alluri Seetaram Raju”, the biopic based on the freedom fighter Alluri Raju, the same effect is intended to be given by the 3D to his ambitious project.Biopic the new mantra in Tollywood

Another biopic film to look out for would be Adi Shankarchariya directed by the very famous script writer JK Bharavi. True to his spirits the script writer come director has roped in actor Kaushik to portray the role of the iconic saint of the 9th century, who is also regarded as an embodiment of Lord Shiva. The film would base on his preaching and practices and would throw light upon the culture and the beliefs of a bygone era. The film cast is a colourful one and has talented actors such as Chiranjeevi doing the voice over narration and actor Nagarjuna portraying the role of Chandaludu.

Conclusion: –

There are a number of other biopic projects in the pipeline such as Satya Saibaba and other to keep the trend on going. In fact the actor being roped for the project is so excited about portraying such a huge historical character that he has already started visiting Puttaparthi to get into the skin of his character. Such is the magic of the biopic.
