The Indian film industry is slowly making a strong impact on the global cinema world. It is slowly accepted worldwide and the Indian cinemas are also d in every major film festivals around the world. Even many Indian stars are made the juries for many award shows in the international film award shows. The tollywood film industry is also gearing up its pace and is slowly becoming a very popular one worldwide. The SIIMA or the South Indian International Movie Awards just provides this opportunity to the four industries there. It is surely one of its kind. This year it was held in the grand city of Sharjah.
About SIIMA Awards
This award function was first founded in the year 2012 by Vishnuvardhan Induri. It was held in Dubai. This year the hosts are very renowned tollywood celebs Shriya Saran, Sonu Sood, Arya and Rana Daggubati. The awards are given for many categories like the best debutant for both male and female, best actor and actress, best director, best actor and actress in supporting role, best comedian, best actor and actress in negative role and so on. Moreover this year the event had dance sequences of many well-known celebs from the south. So the celebration has indeed been very big and glamorous. The event took place for two days and slots were divided eventually. The first day has the award functions for the most promising upcoming actors and actresses from the south with the Generation Next award and the second day had the mainstream awards. The nominees are selected by a panel of senior artists whereas the winners are decided through a public voting process.
Dhanush and Shruti Hasan in SIIMA
The above two names do not need any introduction to the Indian crowd. They are both very famous through their relation with the stars as well as their own talents in various streams. Dhanush is the son in law of the superstar Rajanikant and Shruti Hasan the daughter of Kamal Hasan. They are seen together in the famous Tamil movie Three. Dhanush also became very famous with his song Kolavari D from the same movie. Shruti is also well known for her singing in her own movies and also performing in concerts. These two celebs bagged quite a number of awards in SIIMA. Dhanush got total three awards in the fields of best actor, best lyricist and best playback singer. He got all these awards for his film Three. He got all the awards for the Tamil film industry. Shruti Hasan was rewarded for the best actress for her role in the film Gabbar Singh in Telegu. In his winner’s speech Dhanush said that he is very impressed with the SIIMA awards to see all the actors dancing together in a single stage. He also said that he is very much thankful to the director for shaping him very well for the film so that he has received an award in the same platform with many great stars.
