5 similarities between Tevar and Okkadu

Okkadu – An inspiration

Behind the great fan frenzy and expectations, people behind Tevar released the trailer of Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha’s latest action flick. Jaw dropping is what we felt after watching the trailer, must be mentioned that the lead Arjun-Sona has hit the peak considering what we expect from a mass film. But there is a little mystery behind Sanjay Kapoor’s Tevar, It is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster film called Okkadu which had Mahesh Babu in the lead.  5 similarities between Tevar and Okkadu

After watching the trailer, I must say that the Bollywood remake remains honest to its original. Here we bring you five similarities between Bollywood Tevar and Tollywood Okkadu. It must be noted that there are no great differences between the two films.

Similarities

Mahesh Babu played the role of a Kabadi player with ease in Okkadu, and the bollywood trailer gives us a glimpse of Arjun’s Kabadi skills. The ending of the trailer puts light on the fact that Arjun will play as a Kabbadi player.

Manoj Bajpai was superb impressing viewers with a glimpse of some of his talent: he plays the role of a political villain, who loves Sonakshi. This was the same in Okkadu with the only difference with cast, Okkadu had Prakash raj instead of Manoj and Bhoomika Chawla doing Sonakshi’s role.

The first scene where the lead pair meets is also more or less the same as in Okkadu, both films takes the plot where the hero interferes into the heroine’s life seeing her life to be threatened by villain. The plot is bundled upon how he saves the girl from the villain, with politics and rowdy MLA as the background. The trailer also showed plenty of high adrenaline action and chase scenes with Arjun and Sona in the screen. This was again the same in Okkadu with Bhoomika and Mahesh trying to escape from Prakash Raj. Both films also have Agra and Hyderabad as backdrop, with these towns being leads hometown, where they hide the heroine from villains.

Tevar is directed by Amit Sharma and Gunashekaran has done the writing, who is well known for his artistic works in Telugu cinema.

Why Tevar can be the biggest hit of New Year

It is not the first Telugu film to be remade into Bollywood, with films like Kick becoming blockbusters in Hindi; it is no surprise that work like Okkadu are remade. The film has every piece of entertainment that an audience expects from a high powered action film. Chase scenes, song, love and some flavor of Romance, so with this, the movie can satisfy what viewers expect from a paisa- vasool entertaining cinema.  Presence of talented actors like Manoj will surely take the cinema to another level, providing the same punch that Prakash Raj provided the Tollywood audiences. The music also plays an important role in the film and that is one of the reasons for introducing Imran Khan for doing the music for the film. Imran Khan made a great debut with “Unforgettable” his album which topped charts and at the same time gaining applauds from critics. With all these the movies looks to become one of the biggest treat film lovers can get on New Year month.
