The South Indian film industry has been a source of constant inspiration for Bollywood for the last few years. Its intense comedy, drama and action sequences have really been able to provide a different flavour to Bollywood and thus mesmerize its audience. It is thus quite a natural phenomenon for almost all the movies to have a tinge of the South Indian essence. Apart from having the basic taste of films down South, a trend has recently also started regarding the remake versions of already hit films of the South Indian film industry. In fact this has become quite a rage in the recent times. The Bollywood film industry has thus seen quite a number of good quality commercial films being remade quite successfully.

The grape-vine has the news that the very famous and the talented Karan Johar is all set to create a remake version of Vettai which was originally made in Tamil and was quite a sweeping success. The film was not just limited to this one success, but it was a success once again when it was made in Telugu as well. When it was remade in Telugu the film was renamed as Thadaka, and even this once success meant that the story was a big hit with Asian viewers across all borders. So it is but natural for a talented producer director like Karan Johar to understand the worth of this film and buy its rights right away. It was indeed something people expected but never thought it could happen so soon. A director who is known for his romantic flicks was barely a person who would be thought of making a film based on South Indian character. But all this deliberation and discussion has come to an end, and Karan Johar has indeed taken a keen interest in the film and gone ahead remaking it.

There is huge anticipation regarding the film and the film industry is waiting with baited breath above the outcome of the project – an interesting one of course because this is the first time when Karan Johar is supposedly leaving his comfortable genre and moving into something regarded as highly experimental for him.
