As we all know Telugu film industry is the second largest film industry of India. Its net worth reaches to about Rs 10 Billion. But the bifurcation of the Andhra state with the formation of new Telangana district has posed a dark future for the film making industry. The big budget films have been badly hit by this split. This industry is known to have released 94 films in the year 2010, 115 in 2011, 141 in 2012 and 131 in the recent year 2013. Though all the major stars as well as the producers belong majorly to Andhra Pradesh but still there are various factors that have affected the Telugu film industry. Some of the reasons are mentioned below:
Loss of Nizam Territory
Nizam Territory which is now in Telangana after its split from Andhra Pradesh is a success place for many films of the Telugu film industry. There are also various reasons defined for this like ,it is ranked to be the most significant territory for the big stars of the film industry. It has been in history that the blockbusters at the box office gathered about 60 to 70 percent collection from this region. The finances of many films also belong to this region who invest much money on the films of this industry. Now due to the bifurcation all the investors and audience will be lost which will be a great asset and setback for the film industry.
Loss of Theatres
The separated Telangana district has many territories under it like the already mentioned Nizam territory which in turn has many cities like the most popular Hyderabad and the Secunderabad cities, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar etc. Telangana has almost 10 districts under it. These 10 districts have nearly 480 theatres under it out of which around 200 alone in Hyderabad. Post to the bifurcation the industry has lost all these theatres which have greatly affected the box office collection. The loss is so much that it is hardly be bearable for the film industry. Even if the films are released in these theatres then there will much opposition like the place of shooting whether it is Andhra or Telangana? So now the films will hardly expect for a blockbuster.
Strengths divided
After a new district Telangana was carved out form Andhra Pradesh the film industry received a great setback. The newly formed Telangana state had decided to form a new film industry which will be known as Telangana Cinema Force and will be supervised by filmmaker N. Shankar. With the forming of new industry the strength of Telugu film industry has divided and according to the president of Movie artist Association- Murali Mohan, this division will result in tremendous losses to the industry. All want these both industries to be united as it will result in equivalent job opportunities for the people of both regions. The two industries instead of working together will compete with each other and the masses viewing the films will also get divided.
These are some of the major reasons of grim future of the Telugu Film Industry after the split of the state.
