Yesteryear star Nanda dies

Nanda was an Indian film actress and performed mainly in Bollywood and Marathi movies. She was born on January 8,1939 in a Marathi speaking family in Bombay. Her dad was also an actor and she has two brothers and sister. She appeared in movies at a very early age just after the death of his father. Nanda, a woman with the strong personality, who not only give inspiration to upcoming heroes but also worked with many Dadasaheb Phalke winning filmmakers, had recently passed away on March 25 at the age of 75 due to a severe heart attack.

 

Career life

Veteran actress Nanda, began her silver screen career at a very early age as a child artist with Jaggu in 1950s. Due to her popularity and talent as a child artist given her a ticket for major roles in movies and thus her career grew up. Her first big break was in movie ‘Toofan Aur Diya’ which became a hit. So the success of this movie brought a great transition in her life and she never look back. After that she gave series of hits like Jab Jab Phool Khile, Teen Deviyan, The Train, etc. She shared the screen with a number of noted actors like Shashi Kapoor, Kishore Kumar, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and many more. Butthe actress who was best known for her stellar performances, has passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75.

 

Awards and Achievements

Nanda was well known for her performance and hence won many awards for the same. She was nominated five times for Filmfare award for her mesmerising performance in Bhabhi (1957), Prem Rog (1982), Ahista Ahista (1981), Ittefaq (1969), Aanchal (1960), and won the award for ‘Aanchal’ Yesteryear star Nanda dies

 

Personal life

The actress who became a child star after the death of her father, was a shy girl and close to the family. She was a close friend of actress Waheeda Rehman. Nanda, had never mixed her professional and personal life. She herself never married and never her family forced her to do so. A middle-aged Nanda had finally decided to marry film-maker Manmohan Desai and so they were got engaged in 1992. But before the wedding took place, Desai died of falling from a building, so she remain unmarried ever since. Very shy and introvert, who kept to herself, had many friends. She had always stayed in touch with her friends Waheeda Rehman, Sadhana, Asha Parekh, Shammi, Helen, and Saira Banu almost to her dying day. She died of a sudden heart attack on March 25.

 

Her funeral

75 year old Nanda, died on Tuesday, March 25 due to a sudden heart attack. The morning was took place at her residencein Versova. Bollywood veterans and a number of fans bid a tearful goodbye to yesteryear actress Nanda and she was cremated at suburban Oshiwara. Her family members, a number of Bollywood stars, her fans, and friends were at the last rites held at Oshiwara electric crematorium. Many sources and policemen said that she died a natural death.
