When you speak about Hyderabad and its film theatres, you would expect to see a major percentage of Telugu movies and next in line are the Hindi movies followed by the English flicks. In the recent past, straight Tamil and Malayalam movies also manage to sneak in with one or two shows in multiplexes.

But the time now has come for a Marathi movie to be played in Hyderabad and this is no ordinary one. This film has now been chosen as India’s entry to the prestigious Oscars and many feel it has a chance to get into the final list of nominees. The film is Court and it is directed by debutante Chaitanya Tamhane who is less than 30 years old.

The story revolves around a Dalit poet who is arrested because a sanitary worker has committed suicide listening to his poetry. The drama that runs in the court and the way our democratic hypocrisy runs is showcased in the most perfect manner. Get set for watching this in Hyderabad now.
