Music director SS Thaman is in the film industry for the past 27 years. Thaman started his career as a drummer with the film Bhairava Dweepam. Later, he worked with many music directors and made his grand debut with the film Kick. Thaman always keeps his family away from the limelight but in a recent interview, he spoke about them.

Thaman's wife Sree Vardhini is a popular singer too. However, Thaman gave a chance to her to croon only 5-6 songs. Thaman intentionally did it to avoid the criticism that he is giving chances to his family members. Thaman's sister Yamini is also a singer but Thaman clearly told her to try for opportunities on her own.

Thaman also has a son who is studying the tenth standard currently. Thaman never bought him to the limelight. When asked if his son will take up music, Thaman said that his son is yet to take a call on the same.
