Young actor Vishwak Sen is back with his new film Ori Devuda. Directed by Ashwin Marimuthu, this film is an official remake of the Tamil flick Oh My Kadavule. Ori Devuda features Mithila Palkar and Asha Bhat as the female leads. Victory Venkatesh played a key role in it. The film has hit the screens today and here is the review of it.
Arjun (Vishwak Sen) and Anu (Mithila Palkar) are childhood friends. One fine day, Anu proposes to Arjun. Though Arjun doesn't have any feelings towards Anu, he accepts the marriage proposal thinking that he can get along well with his best friend more than anyone else. But things change after that. Once they get married, disturbances arise in Anu and Arjun, mainly because of Meera (Asha Bhatt). Who is Meera? What did she do? What is the role of Venkatesh in this chaos? To know these, you have to watch the movie.
This is the first time Vishwak played such a hyperactive guy next door role in his career. He had done it with ease. This is one of his best performances. It is good to see him showing variations in every film.
Mithila Palkar is cute but she failed to perform well in the key emotional sequences. Asha Bhatt looks good and delivers a decent performance. Venkatesh Kakumanu is hilarious. This can be a path-breaking film for him. Venkatesh and Rahul Ramakrishna are excellent in their important cameos.
Writer and director Ashwath Marimuthu came up with a contemporary rom-com which is relatable to the younger generation of audiences. He handled the comical scenes well but could've dealt with the emotional sequences in a better way.
Leon James's music is trendy and peppy. A couple of songs are really good. The background score sets the tone of the film very well. The cinematography by Vidhu Ayyana is excellent. The colour tones brought a fresh look to the film.
The editing could have been better though. The production values and the production design are great.
In the recent past, we have not seen a relatable love story in Telugu cinema. Ori Devuda is one such film. The characters are lively, the comedy is pleasant and the story is natural. Thus, it gives a good feel while watching. If the director focused on emotional scenes in a better way, Ori Devuda would have ended up as a more satisfying venture. On the whole, Ori Devuda is a decent watch for the family as well as young audiences.
Slow at some places
Lack of depth in lead characters
One Line Verdict: Decent rom-com
