Megastar Chiranjeevi's much-awaited film Godfather has hit the theatres today. Directed by Mohana Raja, this political drama features Nayanthara, Satya Dev, and Salman Khan in the other key roles. Here is the review of it.

Story:
Godfather starts off with the death of Chief Minister PKR of the Jana Jagruthi Party. After his demise, various players like Satya Priya (Nayanthara), Jaya Dev (Satya Dev), and Varma (Murali Sharma) try for that post. That's when Brahma (Chiranjeevi) enters the scene and turns things around. He is not the king but a kingmaker. How he changed everyone's fate forms the main crux of the movie.

Performances:
Godfather is not a typical Chiru-easque mass masala flick. There is no heroine for him, there are no dance moves and romantic tracks in the movie. Still, Chiranjeevi owns the show and makes fans forget about all those factors. He blends subtlety with mass and delivers a power-packed performance. This is indeed his best performance after the comeback.

Nayanthara appears briefly in the first half and is seen predominantly in the latter half. She shines in a key role. Satya Dev is excellent as an antagonist. This can be a game changer for him.

Salman Khan's cameo is whistle-worthy. The rest others performed as per their character requirements.

Technical Departments:
Godfather is an official remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Lucifer. Director Mohana Raja and his writers made some changes to the script to suit the nativity of Telugu audiences. Their changes are excellent and will appeal to the masses for sure.

Thaman's music is the backbone of the film. His background score is stunning. Nirav Shah's cinematography is good too. The production values are great and the editing is apt.

Review:
Even though it is a remake, Godfather comes with a new feel as the makers implemented a lot of changes in it. However, the soul of the story remains intact. Right from the beginning, the film goes into a serious mode but keeps us engaged with mass moments. The political flavor adds a new depth to the film, especially for mega fans. The confrontation scenes between various characters are engaging. The first half is an entertaining ride and the second half is a bit of let down compared to the former. The climax is quite lengthy. On the whole, Godfather is a perfect festival entertainer and is a strong comeback film for Chiranjeevi.

Positives:
Chiranjeevi's presence
Interesting political scenes
Background score

Negatives:
The slightly slow second half
Lengthy climax

One-Line Verdict: Box-office's Godfather is back!
