Akkineni Akhil, the youngest son of Telugu superstar, Akkineni Nagarjuna, is all set to be launched in the Telugu film industry. There has been no proper confirmation about whether or not he has signed a project yet. But, rumours are doing the rounds that the film- maker who will be launching him is Indian American film- maker, Devadas Koushik Katta Chowdhary, or Deva Katta as he is popularly known.
About 5 years ago, Nagarjuna’s elder son, Naga Chaitanya, had made his debut in the silver screen with the film named Josh. But, unfortunately, the film turned out to be a flop, and as a result, Naga is still struggling to find a stable footing in the industry despite the back that he has such strong backing. It is quite natural that Nagarjuna is being extra careful and picky about the project with which Akhil should be launched.
In his quest to choose the best of film- makers, Nagarjuna seems to have finally zeroed in on Deva Katta with whom Nag Chaitanya reportedly had an excellent experience while working together in the film, Autonagar Surya, where Chaitanya plays the lead, Surya, against Samantha. Autonagar Surya, which started shooting in November, 2013, is all set to release on the 27th of February of the year 2014, and film buffs are eagerly waiting for the film. Nagarjuna and Deva, however, have another reason to look forward to the movie’s release: whether Akhil will sign with Deva or not depends entirely on how Autonagar Surya does. The good news is that Nagarjuna had apparently been highly impressed by the one line story that Deva had earlier presented before him. In fact, according to sources, Nagarjuna has already approved or the story and the script. He is all praise for Deva’s style of film making, and is of the belief that Deva has the capability to make a trend setting movie with his son, Akhil. Sure enough, Deva, who is just 3 films old, has movies like Valasa, a documentary, and Vennela and Prasthanam under his belt. So, the project with Akhil will be his 4th commercial project.
However, no confirmaions have been made yet in this regard, about timing or dates yet. Apparently, Akhil is quite confident about his work, though. Akhil, who already has a fan base who follow his activities through his Twitter account. Earlier, it was through this account that he had also confirmed to his fans about his selection as the vice- captain in the Tollywood Warriors cricket team for the Celebrity Cricket League, which disappointed the fans to some degree, since there was no news about his debut appearance in the film industry.
The industry had been abuzz recently with the rumour that Akhil would be making an appearance in a cameo role in the multi- starrer family drama called Manam, which would be featuring three generations of the Akkineni family. Some rumours on the internet had even claimed that he would be playing the lead. However, Nagardjuna has dismissed all such talks and has confirmed that these are nothing but rumours with not an iota of truth.
