Vamshi is one of the very few directors hailing from the Telangana region. He is born and brought up in Hyderabad and completed his schooling in Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Begumpet, intermediate in Little Flower Junior College, Uppal. Later he completed his B com and MCA from Badruka College of Commerce and Arts, Kachiguda. After his MCA, he took up a software job in a IT firm. 

Vamshi’s father used to have a film theater in Adilabad. He was thus always connected to cinema since his childhood. After taking up a software job and working in it for some time, very soon he realized that it is not his cup of tea and left it to join Assistant director to Jayanth C Paranji for Prabhas’ Eeshwar. He later worked for Prabhas’ Varsham, Nagarjuna’s Mass and Ravi Teja’s Bhadra.

• In an interview, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram told that Yevadu is first written for NTR and him but later went to Ram Charan. According to some media reports, Vamshi reportedly had to face the ire of Charan for this and then he had to clarify in another interview that he wrote it exclusively for Charan and Allu Arjun.
