One of the most popular films of the year is considered to be Bahubali: The Conclusion. It is directed by SS Rajamouli. This particular film had a prequel by the name of Bahubali: The Beginning. This film was received with much enthusiasm and it broke all records set at the box office. It was one of the blockbusters of the previous year.
Now the sequel to this extremely popular film to be released in theaters soon, fans of the franchisee are very eager to have some of their questions answered. One of the foremost among these questions remains concerning the reason why Kattappa was killed by Baahubali.
Difficulties in the Release
The film is approaching its date of release soon. However, now with the release date so close, it is facing some major issues in Karnataka. There are a couple of organizations which have a very pro-Kannada stance. Such organizations have now imposed a permanent ban on the sequel to the film. Such organizations have also been asking for an apology from one of the lead actors in the film. It is none other than Sathyaraj who plays Kattappa in both the films.
Apparently, the actor made a few controversial remarks many years ago. The remarks were based on the Cauvery row and it managed to deeply injure the sentiments of such organizations. It led to much debate being fuelled. It culminated with a protest meet that was held in Tamil Nadu. This protest meet was held during a dispute concerning water sharing between the two states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
It is known that the popular actor Sathyaraj had made remarks about the activist Vital Nagaraj as well as many organizations that were greatly pro-Kannada. As a result, this activist backed by the support of many such groups has begun a campaign which aims to stop the screening of such films in theaters across the entire state.
Addressing the Issue
The character of the strong Bhallaladeva in the film has been played by Rana Daggubati. He recently addressed this hugely controversial issue. He is known to have been speaking about the comments made by Sathyaraj. According to him such comments were made by the popular actor almost ten years ago.
A long time after that incident, Baahubali was released in Karnataka. This film was much appreciated by the audience in Karnataka who did not find any politically incorrect sentiments to be represented by the film. It was a very big blockbuster in Karnataka. Hence, he said that there was no reason to make such a big deal out of a small issue. According to him, the activists were simply trying to garner attention by making some headlines.
Comments Made to Channels
The director of the film SS Rajamouli is also known to have spoken to leading news channels. He is known to have expressed great disappointment with the entire incident. According to him, the ban is a very sad incident indeed. He is known to have said to news channels that the entire team who worked on the film was surprised to have been greeted with this news of the ban.
Rajamouli has worked with the popular actor Sathyaraj for almost five years now. He would have never thought that the actor was capable of hurting anybody else’s sentiments. After some videos which concerned the comments made by Sathyaraj were released online, a number of inquiries were made about the same. It was soon discovered that the comments which were made by the actor were made almost nine years previously.
Rajamouli addressed some of the films in which Sathyaraj has worked and which had released after the comments were made. Among them almost thirty films were released in theaters in different parts of Karnataka. It includes the first part of Baahubali as well. According to him, during this entire period spanning a very long length of time nobody had any trouble accepting the films he had acted in. Now, suddenly after so time this issue was being raked up again and given undue importance.
Moreover, according to the director such a ban would not be affecting the popular actor or his career in any manner. Sathyaraj is not the director, producer or writer of the film. He was not even the hero of the film. In this franchisee he is just another supporting actor. At the end of the day, he acted in the film and went home with the remuneration which he received as a token of his acting. Hence, anything done against the franchisee of Baahubali would not be affecting this particular actor in any manner. The director also hoped that his audience would be wise enough to understand this issue. He also hopes that the issue would be resolved soon.
Other people associated with the film have also been known to address the ban imposed on it. The producer of the film Shobu Yarlagadda said that this ban would not be affecting the career of the concerned actor in any manner. It would simply affect the film which had nothing to do with Sathyaraj’s personal opinion.
