New Project after ‘Veerappan’
Renowned film maker Ram Gopal Verma has recently tweeted that is upcoming Hindi film is going to be about the rivalry between Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan after their gang split. Verma will start working on this project after he is done with ‘Veerappan’ and stated that this film should not be confused with the third installment of the Sarkar series, which is a different project altogether.
Verma’s work on Dawood-Rajan rivalry will bear the name ‘Government’ and will also deal with Abu Salem’s sudden rise to power.

Verma returns to Mumbai underworld
Ram Gopal Verma has directed multiple crime thrillers and crime dramas based on the Mumbai underworld before this but he says that this film will have an even more realistic depiction of the dynamics between various ring leaders and racketeers of the underworld than film like Satya or Sarkar did. He stated that his depiction of various characters like Chhota Sakeel, Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Rajan, Abu Salem etc will be as realistic as his depiction of Veerappan.
The film will also feature characters based on Chhota Rajan’s wife Sujatha, Ajit Doval, who was the national security advisor, Monica Bedi, Bala Saheb Thackeray, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Anees Ibrahim and even Arun Gawli who was a former gangster who turned into a politician.
Verma stated that the film will largely be about the delicate relationship between Dawood and Rajan and how it affected actions and steps of the government. The complex nature of the rapport between underworld criminals and government organizations and also Bollywood is one of the topics Verma has always been fond of and one that he has been able to handle with great mastery. Verma stated that the film will also focus on how Abu Salem rose to power and started challenging Chhota Sakeel’s supremacy and the subsequent conflict between the two.
Ram Gopal Verma introduced himself to the world of films with his debut project Shiva in Telugu film industry in 1989. Since then, he has successfully managed to experiment with various genres and styles of filmmaking both in terms of content and technique. His political dramas like Shool had earned him the National Film Award while crime films like Satya, Sarkar, Rakhta Charitra, Sarkar Raj earned him multiple nominations at the Filmfare Awards. However, some of his romantic comedies like Rangeela and Mast earned him critical acclaim as well.
