Multi-starrer to pull big crowds
One of the most anticipated films from the south this year is Janatha Garage. Koratala Siva who had directed Srimanthudu is making this film. The film stars NTR Junior, Mohan Lal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen.
Mohan Lal pockets big amount
When the makers of this film Mythri Movie Makers made the announcement that film will feature Mohan Lal, it created a huge buzz and a lot of hype among fans and critics alike. What caused an unprecedented level of excitement among the fans was the fact that NTR Jr and Mohan Lal would be seen in the same film together. However Mythri Movie Makers have now experienced a serious shock since Mohan Lal joined the movie. The producers of the film had offered Mohan Lal 1.5 crore rupees as his fee in addition to the Malayalam rights of the film as his remuneration. Mythri Movie Makers had anticipated that the rights of the film would sell for an amount no greater than 1.5 crores. However, Mohan Lal had other plans as he successfully sold the Malayalam rights of the film for whooping 4.5 crores and made a total of 5.5 crores from the project. Mohan Lal is not only a national award winning actor but also the biggest film star in Mollywood, the Malayalam film industry. He has delivered some of the biggest hits in the region in the past and starred in the all time hit of Malayalam film industry ‘Drishyam’ and has a grip over the box office like very few actors in the south does. It was quite natural that his full length character role in the movie would be a very crucial and instrumental factor in making the film a big hit and while NTR Jr has demanded an amount as big as 20 crores and the director is taking home 10 crores, it is not unnatural that star of Mohan Lal’s stature would pocket way more than just 1.5 crores.
Big film, big investments
Mythri Movie Makers have also spent full three crores for the set of the film. Art director A.S. Prakash has worked on it. A lot of effort has gone into erecting the garage set for the film where many crucial scenes of the film have been shot. NTR plays the role of both a college student and a college mechanic in the film. Janatha Garage is set to hit the screens later this year.
