Overview

Allu Aravind is one of the most successful producers in Telugu film industry and is also a pioneer in film distribution and exhibition.

  • Personal Life

Allu Aravind was born to Allu Rama Lingaiah and Kanaka Ratnam couple on January 10th, 1949. He hails for Palakollu, West Godavari district. Nirmala is his better half. His father Allu Rama Lingaiah was a star comedian. He married off his sister Surekha to Chiranjeevi.

He has three sons – Venkatesh, Arjun and Sirish.

  • Career

Allu Aravind started his Geeta Arts banner in 1972. He produced Dasari Narayana Rao’s Banthrothu Bharya and Devudu Digivasthe. Both the films did not help Allu Aravind’s career and he paused production for a while. Later he used to manage his brother-in-law Chiranjeevi’s dates and in 1982 resumed Production with Chiranjeevi’s Yamakinkarudu. Llater he produced 11 movies with the actor on a trot till 1994. During this phase, he also produced Chiranjeevi’s Hindi film, Prathibandh and The Gentleman. The balance sheet at the end of these 11 films mostly showed profits.

In 1996, he introduced Chiranjeevi’s brother Pawan Kalyan with Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. The film was an average grosser. But the subsequent films in Geeta Arts banner, Master, Annayya, Daddy were all table profit ventures.
2003 was landmark film in Geeta Arts history. Allu Aravind produced Pellam Oorellithe. This was his first film with an outside hero after 1975. The film was a big success. In the same year, he introduced his son, Allu Arjun as hero in Gangotri film. But Geeta Arts received a heavy jolt that year with Pawan Kalyan’s maiden directorial, Johnny. The film ended as a big disaster and also slowed down Geeta Arts operations.

    2005-Present:

2 years later, Allu Aravind produced Chiranjeevi’s Andarivadu but the film once again returned a disappointing result.  Finally the next films, Happy with Allu Arjun and Jalsa with Pawan Kalyan ended up as successes. Post Jalsa, Allu Aravind was in news for two reasons. He remade Ghajini with Aamir Khan in Hindi with the same name and scored a blockbuster. The second reason is for investing huge money on Ram Charan’s second film, Magadheera but the film released in 2009 and ended up as the biggest hit ever in Tollywood’s history. The film redefined new heights in Telugu film trade.  After Magadheera, Allu Aravind slowed down in production. His most recent films are 100% Love – Hit, Badrinath – Average and Kotha Janta – Hit. Kotha Janta gave his younger son, Allu Sirish a decent hit after a disastrous debut with Gauravam.
