Known as Melody Brahma, Mani Sharma delivered several memorable compositions in Telugu and Tamil languages and is a first choice music director for all the star heroes in 90s and 2000s.

  • Personal Life

    Born as Yanamandra Venkata Subramanya Sharma, Mani Sharma was born in the Machilipatnam, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. He hails from a musicians' family. His father Y.N.Sharma is a violinist and worked for several films. Mani Sharma lived in Chennai for most of his Childhood.

    Mani Sharma is married to Srivani. Their son, Sagar is also very interested in Music. He is a keyboard player. He worked for films like Magadheera.

  • Career

    Mani Sharma started his career as a keyboard player iunder the guidance of music director Sri Satyam.Later worked with many music directors like Murali Krish and Chakri Policherla, Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, Raj-Koti and M. M. Keeravani. It was Ram Gopal Varma who identified his talent and asked him to compose a single song for his Antham. ‘Chalekki undanuko ye Chalaki Ram chilako’ was the first ever song composed by Mani Sharma. Later, Mani composed background music for other RGV films too.

    Super Heroes (1997) directed by AVS is Mani Sharma's first film as music director. Biggest breakthrough of his career came in 1998 with Chiranjeevi’s Bavagaru Bavunnara and  Choodalani Vundi. Both the movies went on to become blockbusters. Many credited the success of the films to Mani’s music and there is no looking back to him from then. In 1999, he scored music for star heroes like Balakrishna, Venkatesh and Chiranjeevi. Balakrishna’s industry hit movie, Samarasimha Reddy, Chiranjeevi’s Iddaru Mitrulu and Venkatesh’s Ganesh and Seenu. The audios of all these films ended up as big chartbusters making Mani Sharma star heroes’ favourite.

    Here are some of the chartbuster audios Mani Sharma composed for star heroes in late 90s and early 2000s. Mani Sharma is called ‘Industry Hit’ Music director after he composed music for all the industry hit movies in his prime like Samara Simha Reddy, Narasimha Naidu, Indra. However, the music director did not work for any hit movies of Venkatesh and Nagarjuna.

    After the age of Super 4s, Mani Sharma also became a regular composer for next generation superstars like Pawan Kalyan, Junior NTR, Mahesh Babu.  Pawan Kalyan’s Kushi and NTR’s Aadi were still favourite albums of their fans even till date. Mani Sharma is a special for Mahesh Babu in many ways. The ace musicians composed music for 12 movies of Mahesh Babu starting from his debut movie, Rajakumarudu to Khaleja. He even composed back ground score for Mahesh’s recent movie, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. With his association, Chiranjeevi opted him as music director for his son, Ram Charan’s debut movie, Chirutha.

    However, Mani Sharma off late lost his sheen and finding it difficult to compete with current generation music directors. All his recent works are of not his standard and therefore Star heroes moved away from Mani Sharma and are finding new talent. 

  • Trivia

    • Mani Sharma was a keyboard player in the China Olympics Official Musical Troupe in Gymnastics Competition.
    • Several days ago, there were rumours that Mani Sharma was planning to launch his son as hero but the music director refuted them.
    • In May 2013, a case was filed on Mani Sharma on illegal encroachment of land worth 10 crores in Tamil Nadu. The petitioner alleged that 75 cents of his land valued at Rs.10 Crores is illegally encroached by Mani Sharma producing fake documents. The matter was later solved out of courts.
